An M-28 aircraft takes off from a dirt runway at VSP Walan Rabat in Zabul province, Afghanistan, Jan. 16. Known as STOL flights for their short take off and landing capabilities, the M-28 is used to transport personnel and supplies to remote locations with unimproved runways.
