Purple Heart Ceremony at Forward Operating Base Spin Boldak

An infantryman with the 2nd Squadron, 38th Cavalry Regiment, 504th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade, from Fort Hood, Texas, the 27-year-old received the award for injuries sustained during combat operations in Afghanistan's southern Kandahar province July 16 when the vehicle he was riding in struck an improvised explosive device, killing a soldier fellow soldier in the process.
