Lt. Col. Daniel R. Kazmier, branch head, Headquarters Marine Corps, assumed Lt. Col. Thomas G. McCann's position as command of 1st Recruit Training Battalion Dec. 9. Kazmier has held various billets during his Marine Corps career that began in 1980, this includes a successful tour as a drill instructor. In 1992, he graduated from University of Texas at Austin and commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant. Now that Kazmier has been assigned to 1st Recruit Training Battalion, he said he is honored. "I'm incredibly excited to be taking charge of First Recruit Training Battalion. I've had the chance to see them train and they are setting the standards. It's going to be and honor for me to take it to the next level," said Kazmier.
