Soldiers push their bodies to the limits during powerlifting competition in Afghanistan

Sgt. Brian Patterson, a technical inspector assigned to Company B, 615th Aviation Support Battalion, 1st Air Cavalry Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, originally from Effingham, Ill., squats 565 pounds during a powerlifting competition held Nov. 20 at the Camp Marmal Gym. Patterson took first place in this category. The competition was organized by soldiers of the 1st ACB and rules for the event were derived from USA Powerlifting Federation Standards.
