Frank Chavez, drug demand reduction coordinator, Marine Corps Recruit Depot Substance Abuse Counseling Center, gives Lt. Duchuy Nguyen, Facilities Division public works officer, right, a t-shirt and bag in observance of Red Ribbon Week, Oct. 21. "Red Ribbon Week is an ideal way for people and communities to unite and take a visible stand against substance abuse," said Chavez. "Show your personal commitment to a drug free lifestyle through the symbol of the red ribbon Oct. 23 through 31." The Red Ribbon Campaign was started when drug traffickers in Mexico City murdered Drug Enforcement Administration Agent Kikki Camarrena in 1985, said Chavez.
