Spc. Matthew Wright, a cook with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 782nd Brigade Support Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team, pours water into a mermite container. These portable steam containers allow food to be prepared at a centralized location and then sent to other areas for serving. The heat from the water will keep the food warm enough to prevent contamination for up to four hours, said Wright.
