Spc. Xanthin Luptak, a combat engineer with 2nd Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, teaches an Afghan Uniformed Police officer how to deactivate an improvised explosive device Aug. 22. Luptak is teaching both AUP and Afghan National Army soldiers counter IED techniques. The week-long course is training Afghans to better identify IEDs while out on patrol.
