Up to 2,700 soldiers, sailors and airmen from both Australian and United States military forces have been accommodated at Camp Rocky during Exercise Talisman Sabre 2011. Located in Rockhampton, Camp Rocky has been the administrative hub for large quantities of transport, supplies and personnel participating in Talisman Sabre 2011. Talisman Sabre 2011 is a combined U.S. and Australian exercise aimed at improving combat training, readiness and interoperability across the spectrum of military operations, including conventional conflict, peacekeeping and humanitarian assistance efforts. The exercise forms part of the Australia Defence Forces' extensive training program, which is aimed at ensuring preparedness for any future deployment and ensuring Australian and U.S. military forces can work together effectively and safely. Around 22,000 Australian and U.S. personnel will participate in Exercise Talisman Sabre 2011.
