US soldiers stationed in El Salvador participate in ‘Pat’s Run’

Soldiers stationed here for Beyond the Horizon 2011 El Salvador hold up a four with one hand and a two with the other in honor of Pat Tillman who wore No. 42 at Arizona State. Tillman declined to extend his NFL career in 2002 to enlist in the U.S. Army. He died in Afghanistan in 2004. In honor of Tillman, Tempe, Ariz., conducts a 4.2-mile run each year attended by thousands. Soldiers of the 996th Medical Aerial Support Company, Arizona Army National Guard, stationed here recreated their own “Pat’s Run” on April 16. More than 50 soldiers, from several Guard units around the country, participated.
