Senior Airman Daniel Burdick, 18th Aerospace Medicine Squadron, and Senior Airman Eva Gaus, 374th Civil Engineer Squadron, scan for possible presence of radiation exposure on a C-17 Globemaster III here March 21. Airmen Burdick and Gaus are two man team part of a Contamination Avoidance Team designed to check on aircraft, vehicles, and personnel during post-mission assessment for radiation exposure. The CAT sits in 24 hours stand by until the emergency operation center contacts them when an aircrafts lands. The CAT typically scans 40 to 50 aircrafts and their crew here at Yokota on a daily basis.
