Col. Viet Luong, commander of the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division and a resident of Fort Campbell, Ky., and Command Sgt. Maj. Gregory Patton, a resident of Fort Campbell, Ky., salute the World Trade Center flag on Jan. 24 at Forward Operating Base Salerno in Khowst province, Afghanistan. The flag is carried by the 404th Civil Affairs Battalion, Airborne to different FOBs in Regional Command East to give soldiers a chance to see the flag. The flag will be carried by the 404th for a year before being returned to Ground Zero where it will be put in a museum.
