Marines with I Marine Expeditionary Force prepare to cut the birthday cake during the Marine Corps' 235th birthday celebration in Pala, Calif., Nov. 19. The first slice is presented to the guest of honor. The second slice is given to the oldest Marine and passed on to the youngest Marine present at the ball, signifying the passing of tradition. The youngest Marine present was Lance Cpl. Israel Castrajon, (left) was in 1991 in Stockton, Calif. The oldest Marine present was Master Gunnery Sgt. Roosevelt Adrianza, (right) born in 1957 in Venezuela.
