A tear falls from the cheek of infantryman Army Pfc. Kyle Alvey of Wentzville, Mo., Troop C, 1st Squadron, 61st Cavalry Regiment, as he pays his final respects to fallen soldiers, Army Spc. David C. Lutes and Army Spc. Anthony Vargas, also of Troop C, during a memorial ceremony Nov. 18 at Forward Operating Base Connolly. Both Lutes and Vargas were killed as a result of injuries suffered from an improvised explosive device while on patrol in a convoy Nov. 8 in the village of Wazir, Afghanistan.
