Replica Curtis bi-plane lands at Naval Station Norfolk

A replica Curtiss bi-plane, like the one flown by Eugene Ely 100 years ago, marking the birth of Naval Aviation, landed at Naval Station Norfolk Chambers Field, Nov. 2, flown by its owner Bob Coolbaugh. Ely flew his Curtiss pusher bi-plane off the bow of USS Birmingham CL-2, Nov. 14, 1910, in the waters of Hampton Roads, Va.
