The Valorous Unit Award is the second highest unit decoration which may be bestowed upon a U.S. Army unit and is awarded for displaying extraordinary heroism in action against an armed enemy.

Dolph Southerland, the commander of the 1st Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, awards the “Best Maintenance” streamer to Troop C of GarryOwen, June 9. Southerland places the streamer on Comanche Troop’s guidon in recognition of its maintenance crew’s ability to keep GarryOwen’s vehicles in working order, aiding in mission success.
