Senior Airman Robert Ramberg, of the 119th Civil Engineer Squadron, second from right, shakes hands with Maj. Gen. David Sprynczynatyk, the North Dakota adjutant general, during the Hometown Heroes Salute ceremony at the 119th Wing, North Dakota Air National Guard on Sept. 11. The ceremony is honoring over 250 airmen who have deployed away from home station for more than 30 consecutive days on contingency orders from Sept. 11, 2001, to Dec. 31, 2008. This ceremony was a catch-up ceremony for the members of 119th Wing. Next year they will honor all airmen who have deployed from 2009 to 2010. From then on, the Hometown Heroes Salute will be a yearly ceremony honoring Airmen who have deployed that year. Since Sept. 11, 2001, more than 1,800 Happy Hooligans have deployed in support of the Global War on Terrorism.
