FORT LEE, Va. (Oct. 6, 2006) - Sgt. Brian D. Waddy (BDUs), 32nd Armt Air & Missile Defense Command, Fort Bliss Texas, awaits being named champion in the Soldier division of the combatives tournament portion of the 5th annual NCO/Soldier of the Year "Best Warrior" competition. Waddy's opponent was Sgt. Corey E. Luffler (ACUs), 1st Battalion, 15th Field Artillery, Camp Hovey, Korea, native of Pickerington, Ohio. Staff Sgt. Antonio B. Lynn (left), native of Greensboro, N.C., and Drill Sgt. Angelo Newton (right), both of the NCO Academy, Fort Lee, Va., refereed the event along with Staff Sgt. Jonny S. Shepherd (not pictured).
