On Sept. 25 during a routine stop, Lance Cpl. Pedro L. Guzman, 21, a motor vehicle operator with 3rd Platoon, Combat Logistics Company 111, 1st Marine Logistics Group (Fwd), and a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., patrols the area of his vehicle for enemy activity during a re-supply operation through the Al Anbar Province of Iraq. The platoon engages in re-supply missions throughout Al Anbar Province at least three times a week, running operations from base to base to supply other units with what they need to complete their mission, said Staff Sgt. Michael W. Nichols, 30, platoon sergeant for 3rd Platoon. The Marines with 3rd Platoon participate in at least three missions a week which last a minimum of five hours each. It's a job that Marines say is the back bone of the War on Terrorism. 3rd Platoon, Combat Logistics Company 111, 1st Marine Logistics Group (Fwd) is deployed with I MEF (FWD) in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in the Al Anbar Province of Iraq (MNF-W) to develop the Iraqi Security Forces, facilitate the development of official rule of law through democratic government reforms, and continue the development of a market based economy centered on Iraqi Reconstruction.
