Spc. Dexter Woods, representing U.S. Army Materiel Command, disassembles and assembles the M240B machine gun in a three-minute time period during the battle drills test Oct. 5, 2006. The test also included performance in the laws of war, handling of prisoners, foot marches, stabilizing and evacuating casualties, establishing communications and detecting IEDs. Woods, a cavalry scout with HHD, Soldier Systems Center, Natick, Mass., is one of 20 NCOs and Soldiers competing at the fifth annual NCO and Soldier of the Year competition Oct. 2-6, 2006, at Fort Lee, Va. Woods is a native of Sparks, Nev.
