Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Mario Nicoletti, diver, assigned to Company 2-6 of Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit 2, attaches a safety line to a salvage project that was brought to the surface using lift bags. U.S. Navy divers and divers form Panama, Columbia and Peru used salvage techniques to repair the box and retrieve it from the sea floor. MDSU-2 is aboard the Military Sealift Command rescue and salvage ship USNS Grasp and is participating in Navy Diver-Southern Partnership Station, a multinational partnership engagement designed to increase interoperability and partner nation capacity through diving operations.
