Coast Guard Petty Officer 1st Class Brian Green and Petty Officer 3rd Class Craig Davis from Sector New York on Staten Island, N.Y., and Seaman Vanessa Martinez from the Coast Guard Cutter Katherine Walker, help Nadia Leonard, a Publicolor site leader, roll up extra paper after helping third grade students from PS 249 in Brooklyn paint one of the school hallways during Fleet Week Thursday, May 27. Publicolor is a non-profit organization that encourages education in elementary, high school and college level students in New York through the imaginative use of color, and provides opportunities for mentorships, career workshops and college counseling. A Publicolor site painting team goes through an average of 40 gallons of paint each week and spends about three months repainting an entire school.Hosted nearly every year since 1984, Fleet Week New York is the City's celebration of the sea services. This annual event also provides an opportunity for the citizens of New York City and the surrounding area to meet Sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen, as well as witness first hand the latest capabilities of today's Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard.
