The Soldiers of USARSO have been in Haiti since mid March, serving as the command and control element of JTF-Haiti.  As USARSO transitions out of Haiti, it marks the beginning of traditional U.S. Southern Command theater security operations such as MEDRETEs.

Since arriving in Haiti, U.S. Army South has assisted non-governmental organization and the government of Haiti with ruble removal, humanitarian aid missions, and relocating internally displaced persons from at risk camps within Port-au-Prince.

USARSO arrived in Haiti in mid March, taking control of the headquarters element of JTF-Haiti, serving as the command and control element for Operation Unified Response.  USARSO's redeployment marks the beginning of Operation Unified Response's transition to traditional U.S. Southern Command theater security operations.
