Soldiers gather to mourn fallen "hero"

Service members render salutes to the memorial of Army Sgt. Dustin D. Laird, which took place August 8, 2006 at Camp Taqaddum's Mainside chapel. Laird, a crane operator with 913th Engineer Company, 46th Engineer Combat Battalion, was killed August 2, 2006, while conducting combat operations in the city of Fallujah. The Union City, Tenn., native was remembered as a courageous and often comedic individual, who raised the morale within his unit. (Official USMC photo by: Lance Cpl. Geoffrey P.
