Purple Heart recipient Sgt. Daniel Shields is congratulated by a member of his unit at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, Feb. 5. Shields, 24, from Wichita, Kan., is a seven-year-veteran currently serving as a motor transport operator attached to the Army Reserve's 369th Transportation Company and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received during an explosively forced projectile attach on his convoy in southern Iraq, Sept. 30, 2009.
