Local Afghans remove debris from a drainage ditch in the market place in Now Zad, Afghanistan, Dec. 15. In the wake of a recent offensive to rid the area of Taliban influence, local Afghans have returned to the area to reclaim their homes and businesses they abandoned in 2006, when the Taliban forced thousands to flee.
