U.S. Army Paratroopers from 1st Battalion, 501st Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division are extracted via CH-47 Chinook, outside the Village of Marsac, Paktika province, Afghanistan, during Operation Champion Spear, Sept. 5. Operation Champion Spear is a combined operation encompassing Afghan national security forces and International Security Assistance Forces within the western half of Paktika targeting specific individuals and locations to better secure the area for the civilians of the area.
