A member of a nearby boys' orphanage and Petty Officer 2nd Class Charles Littlepage, a Navy gunner's mate work together in a recent Community Assistance Volunteers project to clean the boys' orphanage grounds. The CAV organizes regular community service projects which allow deployed service members to work alongside members of the community to help make a difference to improve nearby villages, schools and orphanages. "I like to do something worthwhile," said Littlepage. "We might not see the difference we're making while we're deployed--or even 10 years from now. Volunteering doesn't always provide instant gratification. I believe I'm making a difference by picking up trash, and I want to be able to say I was a part of making Africa a better place."
