Cmdr. Curt Jones, prospective commanding officer of the San Antonio Class Amphibious transport dock ship Pre-commissioning Unit New York signs the delivery document aboard the ship. Also participating in the ceremony is Capt. Mary Beth Dexter, supervisor of shipbuilding gulf region and Irwin F. Edenzon, vice president and general manager of Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding. The ship was named New York after the state and her motto is "Strength Forged through Sacrifice. Never Forget"
