Lance Cpl. Corey L. Gosey pauses during his daily task of sorting mail for the 1,056 Marines and Sailors of his battalion, 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, June 17. Gosey was a mortarman with 1/5 until a knee injury put him on a different career path. The 1st Bn., 5th Marines is an element of Regimental Combat Team 3 whose mission is to conduct counterinsurgency operations in partnership with the Afghan national security forces to improve security for the Afghan people and extend legitimate governance in southern Afghanistan.
