Fernando Garcia, a ninth grade student at Point Loma High School, plays piano with Marine Band San Diego’s jazz combo Jan. 27 in San Diego. The jazz combo allowed a select number of students to play with them during a high school tour Jan. 26 through 30. The musicians identified Garcia as a strong pianist when they first arrived and gave him the opportunity to play with them during the performance in front of his peers. The Marines tour high schools performing and teaching about Marine Corps musician enlistment opportunities.
