Chief of Naval Personnel, Vice Admiral Mark E. Ferguson III, thanks Petty Officer 2nd Class Cassandra Thomson, operation specialist, for her service during a visit to the Norfolk-based guided missile destroyer USS Milius. Ferguson visited Sailors in Bahrain May 10-11, to discuss current Navy personnel issues and thank them for their service. Milius is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of Maritime Security Operations. MSO help develop security in the maritime environment. From security arises stability that results in global economic prosperity. MSO complements the counterterrorism and security efforts of regional nations and seek to disrupt violent extremists' use of the maritime environment as a venue for attack or to transport personnel, weapons or other material.
