Cpl. Casimir J. Krul, left, talks with Tedokon Yasunori, center, Genji Hachimine, right, and Dr. Robert D. Eldridge during a visit to American Forces Network Okinawa’s radio station Dec. 22 at Camp Foster. During their visit, Tedokon and Hachimine talked about ongoing community relations projects with Marine Corps Air Station Futenma. Two of their projects are the Fence Clean Project and the Heart Clean Project which take place around MCAS Futenma, and promote friendship and mutual cooperation between the local Okinawan residents, service members and their families. These groups are often seen cleaning vandalism and debris from the fence, as well as waving, smiling, and saying ‘Thank you’ to service members during their morning commutes. Krul is a broadcast journalist with AFN Okinawa. Tedokon is a radio host with FM21, a TV host with the Channel Sakura internet TV, and the leaders of the above two groups. Hachimine is a professional singer and musician, and a regular participant in the community relations activities. Eldridge is the deputy assistant chief of staff for G-7, government and external affairs, MCIPAC-Marine Corps Base, Camp Butler, Japan. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Capt. Caleb Eames/Released)
