The unit's mechanics worked around the clock to ensure the aircraft were ready for combat operations in Afghanistan. Hickey and Patterson are rotary wing airframe mechanics with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 362, part of Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force - Afghanistan's aviation combat element. SPMAGTF-A's mission is to conduct counterinsurgency operations, with a focus on training and mentoring the Afghan national police.
