Fred Dente, squadron commander of 1st Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, addresses 32 determined Soldiers who are waiting to take on the challenge of the “Quarterhorse” Crucible Nov. 18-19 at Fort Riley. The Quarterhorse Crucible was a two-day skill validation to identify the best candidates to represent the squadron in the 1st Infantry Division’s Best Squad competition and the 2015 Gainey Cup.
