Gen. David Perkins, commanding general, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, briefs for the first time to a division or lower echelon the newly published, “U.S. Army Operating Concept: How to Win in a Complex World” here in a packed theater on post, Oct. 24. Perkins main purpose for visiting Fort Stewart is not to give this brief however, as he flew down to Fort Stewart in order to perform as the guest keynote speaker at the reorganization ball of the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team “Spartans," 3rd Infantry Division, later on in the evening. This will be the last ball ever of the 2nd ABCT as they officially reorganized earlier in the day, and are on tract for inactivation in January of 2015, in accordance with the Army drawdown. Perkins is a former brigade commander of the 2nd ABCT, and served as commander during Operation Iraqi Freedom I, and the famous Thunder Run battles. (U.S. Army Photo by Staff Sgt.
