U.S. Army medic, Sgt. 1st Class Ryan West, Joint Force Headquarters, S.C. Army National Guard, administers the influenza vaccination to U.S. Army Maj. Joseph Bulwinkle, Oct. 1, 2014. The influenza vaccine is an annual requirement for service members to help sustain the health and readiness of the organization. Flu season typically begins in October and peaks in December through February according to the Center for Disease Control.
