Pfc. Mason Bednar, a petroleum supply specialist from Fayetteville, Texas, assigned to Company A, 4th Support Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, drives a heavy armor Buffalo during a route clearance mission, Feb. 11, in the Rashid District of southern Baghdad. Bednar is attached to Co. E, 1st Bn., 22nd Infantry Regiment, in support of the 1st Special Troops Bn., 1st BCT, deployed to the Rashid District of southern Baghdad in support of Multi-National Division - Baghdad. The Soldiers of Co. E worked with Iraqi security forces to provide security for the Islamic religious holiday, Arba'een, when millions of Shiite Muslims journey hundreds of miles to the Iraqi city of Karbala. The combat engineers maintaining the "Raider" Brigade's route clearance mission, assisting ISF to ensure that the roads are free of improvised explosive devices and unexploded ordnance.
