Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Manpower and Reserve Affairs Juan M. Garcia III walks across the forward brow of the Navy's largest simulator, USS Trayer (BST 21) at Recruit Training Command (RTC), the Navys only boot camp, Aug. 15. Garcia toured the commands training facilities, talked with staff members and recruits and was the reviewing officer at the weekly Pass-in-Review (PIR) graduation. Trayer, a 210-foot-long Arleigh Burke-class destroyer simulator, is the platform where recruits take their final test, Battle Stations, before graduating from RTC. Battle Stations is a 12-hour exam of 17 different scenarios, including firefighting, damage control, watch standing and mass casualty evacuations. More than 713 recruits officially became Sailors at the weekly PIR graduation. RTC trains more than 37,000 Sailors annually. (U.S. Navy photo by Scott A. Thornbloom/Released)
