Teammates Staff Sgt. William Chavis and 1st Lt. Mitchell Messick, carrying the team’s “precious” cargo, walk the balance-beam portion of the 7th Army Joint Multinational Training Command Best Warrior Completion Aug. 12. Chavis, a McColl, S.C., native assigned to the 7th Army Noncommissioned Officer Academy, and Messick, a Fredericksburg, Va., native assigned to Company A, 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment, are competing in the three-day event ending Aug. 14 with the announcement of the 7th Army JMTC Officer, Noncommissioned Officer and Soldier of the Year.
