Cpl. Alan D. Morales is a squad leader with 1st Platoon, Company K, 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment (Reinforced), the ground combat element of Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force - Afghanistan. As the Afghan security forces become capable of sustaining security and force development, U.S. Marines will hand responsibilities over to them and transition to a long-term security relationship.
