Cirque, a service dog for the Ohio Task Force 1, gets a pat on the head for job well done from his handler, Craig Veldheer, after spending an hour searching for survivors buried in radioactive rubble during Vibrant Response, a training exercise held at the Muscatatuck Urban Training Complex, Indiana, 4 August 2014. Vibrant Response is a major field training exercise conducted by the U.S. Northern Command and led by U.S. Army North. Approximately 5,000 service members and civilians from the military and other federal and state agencies throughout the country are training to respond to a catastrophic domestic incident. As a component of U.S. Northern Command, Army North coordinates timely federal and military response to disasters in the homeland to help the American people in a time of need.
