Washington Gov. Christine Gregoire speaks with Spc. Alan Sparks from Kenwick, Wash., with Delta Company, 1-161st Infantry, 81st Brigade Combat Team, Washington Army National Guard, Jan. 7, at Joint Base Balad, Iraq. Gregoire traveled to Baghdad, Ramadi and Balad during her two-day trip to Iraq to see Washington Soldiers. Approximately 2,400 members of the Washington Army National Guard are deployed to various bases across Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
