Georgia Army National Guard, 48th Infantry Brigade Combat Team Col. Jeffrey Dickerson was promoted on May 31, 2014 at Camp Phoenix, Kabul, Afghanistan, by Col. Randall V. Simmons, Jr., Commander of the 48th IBCT. Dickerson is assigned as the deputy brigade commander and is currently deployed with the brigade headquarters in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. A graduate of Dooly County High School, Georgia Military College, and Georgia Southwestern State University; he enlisted into the Georgia Guard in 1983 with Company B, 2nd Battalion, 121st Infantry of Cordele, Georgia. Prior to deploying, Col. Dickerson was stationed at Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania, where he graduated from the U.S. Army War College in June 2013. Col. Dickerson is the son of Thomas and Linda Bodrey and William C. Dickerson, Jr., of Cordele, Ga.
"I have served with him the majority of my military career and known him almost all of my adult life," said Col. Simmons. " There is no one more deserving of a promotion of this nature. Jeff has always been one to have the hard jobs, always seek the hardest jobs. So if you ever want to emulate a career after someone, what he has done in the past is certainly a path to follow."
