Sailors and Marines from the amphibious transport dock ship USS Mesa Verde (LPD 19) participate in an enhanced vessel board, search and seizure drill aboard a coastal command boat and a Riverine Command Boat (RCB), from Coastal Riverine Squadron (RIVRON) 3, aboard the Afloat Forward Staging Base (Interim) USS Ponce (AFSB(I) 15). Mesa Verde is part of the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group and, with the embarked 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (22nd MEU), is deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
