U.S. Marine 1st Lt. Stephen M. George inserts an IV needle into another service member’s arm as U.S. Navy Petty Officer 1st Class John C. Crockett guides his hand during the Combat Lifesaving Course Apr. 5 at Gwangyang Port, Republic of Korea during exercise Freedom Banner 2014. Throughout the IV training each service member had an IV needle inserted into their brachial vein, and also practiced inserting it into another service member themselves. The course teaches service members how to assist trauma victims if they are the first responders in an emergency. During the course the Marines also learned how to apply tourniquets and how to create splints and properly apply them. George is a logistics officer with Combat Logistics Regiment 35, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force. Crockett is a hospital corpsman with the regiment.
