Lt. Gen. Mark Milley, III Corps and Fort Hood commanding general, and U.S. Senator John Cornyn take questions from reporters during a press conference outside the main gate at Fort Hood, Texas April 3. During the press conference, Milley identified the assailant in the April 2 shooting incident on the post as Spc. Ivan A. Lopez, 34, a truck driver with the 49th Transportation Movement Control Battalion, 13th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary). Sixteen people were injured and three killed in the shooting spree. Lopez took his own life following a confrontation with a military police officer. The senator offered condolences as well as his support to the Fort Hood community at the press conference.
