Henry Hessink (left), a Navy veteran who lives at the Davis Community Assisted Living and Rehabilitation Center, and Lt. Cmdr. John Van Dyke (right), the Battalion Chaplain for Headquarters Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, talk during a volunteer cleanup event where Marines and sailors devoted their time to give back to the members of the community. The Davis Community houses approximately 340 residents on its 54 acre plot. During the cleanup service members picked up fallen tree branches, pulled weeds in the flower beds and also filled the bird feeders surrounding the main building. Along with the clearing of the tree branches and debris there was an opportunity to talk to veterans that lived in the Champions Assisted Living building inside the Davis Community.
