Royal Thai and U.S. Marines brace themselves before an entry breaching charge explodes Feb. 17 at Ban Chan Krem, Kingdom of Thailand during Exercise Cobra Gold. The day’s training was intended to show how explosive ordinance disposal units prepare, construct and detonate some of their breaching charges and explain their underlying fundamentals. The Royal Thai service members are EOD technicians. The Marines are with Combat Assault Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force and 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, which is currently assigned to 4th Marines, 3rd Marine Division, III MEF, as part of the Marine Corps’ unit deployment program.
