Garett Russ, native of Tampa, Fla., firefighter with 562nd Firefighter Detachment, 94th Engineer Battalion, 4th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, holds the company guidon, or colors, as it is cased by the leadership of 562nd Firefighter Det., 1st Sgt. Colleen Howard and commander Capt. Joshua Fontenot. The colors were cased during a deployment ceremony honoring a group of 562nd soldiers deploying to Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base, Romania, Feb. 12, 2014. Casing the colors is part of the tradition signifying a unit is ceasing its operations at a particular station.
