Service members compete, build relationships with host nation

Service members pose with Maj. Gen. Mubarak Mohammed Al-Khayarin, Qatar Emiri air force commander, during Qatar National Sports Day at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar, Feb. 11, 2014. For the first time more than 100 airmen, sailors, soldiers, Marines and civilians were invited to participate in the event to play basketball, soccer and volleyball with their host nation counter parts. The Qatar National Sports Day is an initiative adopted in 2011 by the current Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, to further embed sporting values into the nation's culture and inspire people to be healthy and engage in physical activities.
